Wow -- what wonderful pictures. I still remember so fondly being there. I have always wanted to take Wade there because it is so different seeing it in pictures and actually being there. I'm so happy you got to go! And that you took "Flat Addie" -- she was thrilled. Addie told me that no one in their class sent their's to DC. So I'm going to sending the pictures you took to school with her. I'm sure it will be a big hit.

(Secretly, I'm very jealous that DC is just a day trip for you! One of the perks of living on the East Coast!)

I love D.C. Next time you go, you should visit the White House. It's free but takes a little bit of planning. Call you Congressional Rep's office - they can set up a tour for you. Mom and I went a couple of years ago and it was great... Then we sprinted down (not kidding, we were late for our tour) Pennsylvania Ave for our tour of the Capitol. The first time I was there - in 1992, you could just walk up the steps and go in. Now, you have to go through an approved tour and metal detectors. And there are guards armed with machine guns on the steps of the Capitol Building... That was more telling than anything else. I could go on and on... Maybe I should start a blog - I won't, but maybe I should... :)

Glad you had a good trip.

How much fun!! I loved the memorials. You had a really beautiful day.

Try to get into the Smithsonian next time... talk about amazing.
